Madhumita Bisht is an Indian badminton player, widely regarded as one of the most successful women shuttlers in the history of Indian badminton. She represented India in international competition over more than a decade and won a large number of national titles in the singles, doubles and mixed doubles disciplines during the 1980s and 1990s.

Madhumita began playing competitive badminton in her youth and rose through the junior ranks in India. She trained and competed within the framework of the Badminton Association of India (BAI) and was associated for much of her career with Indian Railways, which has long been a major employer and patron of Indian badminton players.
Madhumita Bisht is best known for her exceptional record at the Senior National Badminton Championships of India. She won numerous national titles across women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles, making her one of the most decorated players in the history of the tournament. Her partnership in mixed doubles with leading male shuttlers of the era was particularly successful and contributed to several of her national crowns.
She represented India at multiple editions of the Commonwealth Games, the Asian Games, the Asian Badminton Championships, the Uber Cup (women's team) and the Sudirman Cup (mixed team). She also took part in the Thomas & Uber Cup qualifying campaigns and various international Grand Prix circuit events sanctioned by the International Badminton Federation (IBF), the predecessor of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
After retiring from active competition, Madhumita Bisht moved into coaching. She has served as a national coach with the Badminton Association of India and has been involved with player development programmes for the Indian women's team, including stints associated with the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
Madhumita was known as a versatile all-court player capable of competing at the top level in all three disciplines of badminton. Her ability to switch effectively between singles and doubles formats, combined with strong court coverage and tactical play at the net, made her a consistent performer at national level over a long career.
Madhumita Bisht's career is considered an important chapter in the development of women's badminton in India in the period between the era of pioneers such as Ami Ghia and Kanwal Thakar Singh and the later generation led by players like Aparna Popat and, subsequently, Saina Nehwal and P. V. Sindhu. Her sustained dominance at the National Championships set a benchmark for Indian women shuttlers and underlined the role of institutional support, particularly from the Railways, in nurturing Indian badminton talent.
