Loyola–ICAM College of Engineering and Technology, commonly abbreviated as LICET, is a private engineering institution located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is run as a joint initiative between the Jesuits of the Madurai Province, who also administer Loyola College, Chennai, and ICAM (Institut Catholique d'Arts et Métiers), a network of French Catholic engineering schools. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in engineering and technology, and is affiliated to Anna University.
LICET draws on the academic traditions of Loyola College, one of the older liberal arts and science institutions in southern India, and combines them with the Franco-Indian engineering pedagogy associated with the ICAM group. The institution operates within the Loyola Campus in Nungambakkam, Chennai, and shares the broader Jesuit ethos of education focused on academic rigour, ethics, and service.

The college emerged from a partnership between the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in Tamil Nadu and the ICAM group, which has historically run engineering schools in France and has expanded its presence to other countries. Loyola College in Chennai, which serves as the parent institution on the campus side, has long offered programmes in arts, commerce, and the sciences. LICET was established to extend this educational mission into the field of professional engineering education, while drawing on ICAM's curriculum design experience and pedagogical approach.
As a Jesuit institution, LICET situates itself within a broader network of Catholic higher education in India, which includes colleges such as St. Joseph's, St. Xavier's, and other Loyola institutions across the country.
LICET offers Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) programmes across core engineering disciplines, along with selected postgraduate programmes. The undergraduate offerings typically include branches such as:
The curriculum follows the regulations of Anna University, which sets the syllabus, examination pattern, and degree requirements for affiliated engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. In addition to the standard university curriculum, LICET incorporates value-added courses, soft skills training, and elements influenced by the ICAM model, which emphasises project-based learning, industry interaction, and the formation of well-rounded engineers.
LICET operates on the Loyola Campus in Nungambakkam, a central neighbourhood of Chennai. The campus is shared with Loyola College and other Jesuit-run educational entities, allowing students to access wider library and co-curricular resources. Facilities typically include:
Admission to undergraduate engineering programmes at LICET is primarily through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling process conducted by Anna University, which uses Class XII marks in the relevant subjects to determine merit. As a Christian minority institution, the college also operates a management quota and minority quota under the rules applicable to such institutions in Tamil Nadu. Postgraduate admissions are conducted through TANCET and other procedures notified by the state and the affiliating university.
Student life at LICET combines academic activities with co-curricular and extracurricular engagement. The college hosts departmental associations, technical symposia, cultural events, and sports tournaments. Students participate in inter-collegiate competitions in Chennai and across Tam
