The series centres on Kavya Kulkarni and Dhruv Vats, a young couple in their twenties navigating the realities of a live-in relationship in a metropolitan Indian city. Rather than relying on dramatic plot turns, the show derives its narrative from mundane occurrences—weekend routines, career anxieties, family expectations, long-distance separations, and conversations over food. Each episode is built around a small theme drawn from the rhythms of urban couplehood.
Supporting and guest performers appear across seasons, primarily portraying friends, colleagues, and family members of the lead pair.
The first season was produced by Dice Media, the long-format content arm of Pocket Aces, and released on YouTube. It comprised five episodes and quickly developed a loyal audience among urban Indian millennials, contributing to the rise of digital-first scripted content in India.
Following the popularity of the first season, Netflix acquired the series. Season 2 was released on Netflix in 2018, with Dice Media continuing as producer. The season retained the same writing voice while expanding the show's emotional scope.
The third season released on Netflix in 2019. It explored a phase of long-distance separation between the protagonists, with Kavya pursuing a fellowship and Dhruv working in Mumbai, deepening the show's themes of independence and partnership.
The fourth and final season premiered on Netflix in 2021. It dealt with more mature questions of mental health, professional strain, family responsibilities, and the future of the relationship, bringing the arc of Kavya and Dhruv to a reflective close.
Little Things received generally favourable reviews from Indian critics and was credited with helping define the slice-of-life genre in Indian streaming fiction. It contributed to mainstream visibility for both Mithila Palkar and Dhruv Sehgal, the latter as both an actor and a writer. The series is often cited alongside other early Indian web originals as evidence of an evolving audience that preferred relatable, character-driven stories over conventional television formats. Its move from a YouTube-led production by Dice Media to a Netflix original is also viewed as a notable case study in the early growth of Indian original content on global streaming platforms.
