Over the decades it expanded its academic offerings to include postgraduate programmes, research studies, and self-financed professional courses across the arts, humanities, sciences, commerce, and computer studies.

The college was later granted autonomous status, allowing it to design its own curriculum and conduct examinations while continuing to award degrees through Madurai Kamaraj University. It has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The college operates departments across the natural sciences, social sciences, languages, commerce, and computer applications.
