Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) is a state university located in Thrissur, Kerala, India. It was established by the Kerala University of Health Sciences Act, 2010, with the objective of ensuring proper and systematic instruction, teaching, training and research, and to bring uniformity to the various academic programmes in medical and allied subjects across the State of Kerala.
The University is mandated to affiliate all colleges and institutions in Kerala that impart professional education in health care. As per the source, 296 professional colleges have been affiliated to the University, covering disciplines related to medical and allied health sciences.
The Governor of Kerala serves as the Chancellor of the University. Through its affiliating role, KUHS provides a common academic framework for health sciences education in the state, including standards related to instruction, training and research.
