Jyothika Saravanan, known mononymously as Jyothika, is an Indian actress who works predominantly in Tamil cinema, with notable appearances in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films. Active since the late 1990s, she is recognised for portraying strong, layered female characters and has been a recipient of Filmfare Awards South and the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. After a sabbatical following her marriage in 2006, she returned to acting in 2015 and has since become known for women-centric films produced under the family banner 2D Entertainment.

Jyothika was born into a Punjabi family in Mumbai. Her father, Chandrasekhar Sadanah, was associated with Hindi film production, and her mother, Seema, acted in Hindi films during the 1960s and 1970s. Her elder half-sister Nagma had already established a career in Tamil and Telugu cinema before Jyothika entered films. Jyothika studied at Apostolic Carmel Convent and Mithibai College in Mumbai.
Jyothika made her acting debut with the Hindi film Doli Saja Ke Rakhna (1998), directed by Priyadarshan. She entered Tamil cinema with S. J. Suryah's Vaali (1999) opposite Ajith Kumar, which won her recognition. Subsequent films such as Poovellam Kettuppar (1999) and Kushi (2000), opposite Vijay, established her as a leading actress.
