Joe Carter

Overview

Joseph Franklyn Carter (born 17 December 1992) is a New Zealand cricketer who represents Northern Districts in domestic cricket. He was educated at Tauranga Boys' College, where he captained the First XI in 2010. Before his senior domestic debut, Carter was part of the New Zealand squad for the 2012 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Carter made his Twenty20 debut for Northern Districts on 4 December 2016 during the 2016–17 Super Smash. He has since established himself across the limited-overs and first-class formats for the side.

On 7 November 2018, in the fifth round fixture of the 2018–19 Ford Trophy between Northern Districts and Central Districts, Carter and Brett Hampton set a new List A cricket record for the most runs scored off a single over, with 43. The over, bowled by Willem Ludick, comprised two no-balls, six sixes, a four and a single.

In March 2020, during round five of the 2019–20 Plunket Shield season, Carter and Mark Chapman each scored centuries in both innings of the same match. It was the first instance in Plunket Shield history of two batsmen achieving a century in each innings of a single match. Later that year, in November 2020, Carter was named in the New Zealand A squad for practice matches against the touring West Indies team.
