In June 2018, Ahmadi was one of the eleven cricketers selected for Afghanistan's first ever Test match, played against India. By featuring in Afghanistan's maiden Test, Ahmadi is recorded among the first generation of Afghan Test cricketers, a group whose appearances are part of the foundational history of the country's national team in the longest format of the game.
