Overview

The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) is a public deemed university located in Mumbai, India. The institute is dedicated to training and research in the fields of chemical engineering, chemical technology and pharmaceutical sciences.

Established in 1933, ICT was granted deemed university status in 2008. It is noted for being the only state-funded deemed university in India. The institute focuses on academic and applied work within the chemical and pharmaceutical disciplines.

In 2018, ICT was named an institute with a special status by the Empowered Expert Committee. The same year, it was accorded the status of a Category 1 institute with graded autonomy by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the University Grants Commission of India.

In addition to its main campus in Mumbai, ICT operates regional campuses at Bhubaneswar in Odisha and Jalna in Maharashtra, extending its presence in chemical technology education across different parts of the country.
