IARE is part of the cluster of self-financing engineering colleges that emerged around Hyderabad as the city expanded as a hub for higher technical education in southern India. Such institutions are typically established by private educational trusts or societies, approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and affiliated to a state technical university for the purpose of awarding degrees.
The institute conducts Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programmes in core and emerging engineering branches, alongside postgraduate Master of Technology (M.Tech) programmes and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). As an aeronautical-themed institution, aeronautical engineering forms one of its identifying disciplines, complemented by departments commonly found in Indian engineering colleges such as computer science, electronics, electrical, mechanical and civil engineering.
Like other engineering colleges in Telangana that are not deemed or autonomous universities by statute, IARE awards degrees through its parent affiliating university, JNTUH, and follows the curriculum and examination framework prescribed by it.
The college is situated within the Hyderabad metropolitan area, which hosts a dense concentration of engineering and technology institutions, IT corridors and research establishments. Its location places it within commuting distance of major aerospace, defence and information technology employers in the region.
IARE contributes to the supply of technically trained graduates in Telangana and is among the engineering colleges in the Hyderabad region that maintain a dedicated aeronautical engineering programme, a relatively specialised discipline within Indian undergraduate technical education.
