Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) is a Central University located in Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, India. Established in 2007, it is named after the former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The university was set up with the objective of promoting higher education in the tribal regions of India.
The university commenced its academic activities in 2008 from a temporary campus in Amarkantak. It later shifted to its own permanent campus situated in Lalpur, located about 23 kilometres from Amarkantak.
IGNTU opened a regional campus in Manipur in 2009 to extend its reach to the tribal communities of the north-eastern region. A regional campus of the university was also sanctioned in 2010 in Kalahandi district of Odisha, but the proposal did not materialise. Subsequently, in 2023, a team consisting of officials from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and IGNTU conducted a survey in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha for the establishment of a third campus of the university.
The university was ranked 9th in India by the IIRF in 2025.
