Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) is a state public university located in Kashmere Gate, Central Delhi, India. It is a women-only technical university established by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi to promote technical and professional education for women. The institution traces its origins to Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT), a women's engineering college that operated as a constituent institute affiliated with a Delhi-based university. It was later upgraded to the status of an independent state university through legislation passed by the Delhi Legislative Assembly, becoming Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women. The campus is situated in the historic Kashmere Gate area of Delhi, close to other educational and civic institutions in the central part of the city.
IGDTUW conducts programmes in disciplines such as computer science and engineering, information technology, electronics and communication engineering, mechanical and automation engineering, architecture, and management studies. The university also offers postgraduate programmes including Master of Technology and Master of Business Administration courses, alongside doctoral research in engineering and allied fields. Admission to undergraduate engineering programmes is conducted on the basis of national-level entrance examinations, while postgraduate and doctoral admissions follow respective qualifying tests and university procedures.
As one of the few state-funded technical universities in India dedicated exclusively to women, IGDTUW occupies a distinctive position in Indian higher education.
