Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Tirupati

Overview

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Tirupati, commonly referred to as IISER Tirupati, is an autonomous public university located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is dedicated to teaching and research in the basic sciences, and forms part of the network of Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research established across the country.

The institute was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, which has since been renamed the Ministry of Education. IISER Tirupati commenced academic operations in the 2015–2016 academic year, with its first batch of students arriving in August.

During its initial phase, IISER Tirupati was mentored by IISER Pune until a new director was appointed for the Tirupati institute. This mentorship arrangement supported the establishment of academic and administrative functions at the new campus.
