Overview

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is an Indian deemed-to-be-university based in New Delhi. Established on 17 August 1965, the institute functions as an autonomous society under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. It is widely regarded as a leading media education institute in the country and operates five regional centres across India.

IIMC offers a range of postgraduate diploma programmes in media-related disciplines. These include journalism, with separate streams in Hindi, English, Odia, Urdu, Marathi and Malayalam, alongside diploma courses in radio and television journalism, advertising and public relations, digital media, and corporate communication and brand management.

In addition to its diploma offerings, the institute conducts Master of Arts programmes in media business studies, strategic communications, and new media communications. It also offers a Doctor of Philosophy programme in mass communication and journalism, providing avenues for advanced research in the field.
