Zhimomi belongs to the cohort of cricketers from India's North East who entered the BCCI's senior domestic structure after the board granted full membership to teams from the region in 2018. From the 2018–19 season onward, Nagaland began competing in the Ranji Trophy, the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which opened pathways for local players such as Zhimomi.
Zhimomi has featured in matches organised under the BCCI's domestic calendar for the Nagaland Cricket Association. The state side, based in Dimapur and Kohima, plays in the Plate Group of the Ranji Trophy and corresponding groups in the limited-overs competitions.
Players from Nagaland, including Zhimomi, are part of a broader expansion of Indian domestic cricket that brought Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Bihar, Puducherry and Uttarakhand into the senior BCCI structure, widening the talent base of Indian cricket.
