Hussamuddin hails from Nizamabad in Telangana and was introduced to boxing within his family. His father, Mohammed Shamsamuddin, was a boxing coach, and his brothers have also been associated with the sport, making boxing a family tradition. He went on to join the Indian armed forces, competing under the Services banner in the domestic circuit.
Hussamuddin is regarded as a counter-punching boxer with strong footwork, traits that have suited him in the lower weight categories where speed and accuracy are decisive. His emergence has been part of a wider growth of boxing talent from Telangana and southern India, a region traditionally less prominent in Indian boxing compared with Haryana, Punjab and the North-East.
