Khan made her acting debut in 2009 with the role of Akshara Singhania in Rajan Shahi's Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, produced by Director's Kut Productions for Star Plus. The show, one of Indian television's longest-running daily soaps, established her as a household name. After exiting Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Khan participated in the stunt-based reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi, broadcast on Colors TV, where she was a finalist.
