Rane made his feature film debut with the Telugu romantic drama Thakita Thakita in 2010. He followed this with appearances in several Telugu productions, including Naa Ishtam (2012), the horror film Avunu (2012), Prema Ishq Kaadhal (2013) and Anaamika (2014). These films collectively established his presence in the Telugu industry during the early 2010s.
Rane made his Hindi film debut in 2016 with Sanam Teri Kasam, a romantic drama. His performance brought him a nomination for the Stardust Award for Superstar of Tomorrow – Male. He went on to play a gangster in Taish (2020), an adventure-loving character in Haseen Dillruba (2021) and a politician in Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat (2025), the last of which emerged as a sleeper hit. Rane is among a relatively small group of contemporary Indian actors to have built a sustained presence in both Telugu and Hindi cinema. His career trajectory, beginning with television and moving through south Indian films before achieving wider visibility in Hindi productions, reflects the increasingly cross-industry nature of acting careers in India.
