Harleen Deol hails from Punjab and developed her cricket through age-group and domestic circuits in northern India. She moved into senior domestic cricket representing Himachal Pradesh in tournaments organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), where consistent performances brought her to the attention of national selectors.
Deol has been a regular for Himachal Pradesh in the Senior Women's One Day Trophy and the Senior Women's T20 Trophy, the principal domestic competitions for women's cricket in India. Her performances in inter-zonal and senior tournaments helped her earn an India call-up.
Harleen Deol made her senior international debut for India in the limited-overs formats. She has since featured in T20Is, ODIs and a Test match for India, playing in bilateral series and ICC events. She is particularly remembered for an athletic boundary-line catch during a T20I against England in 2021, which received wide attention internationally.
With the launch of the Women's Premier League (WPL) by the BCCI in 2023, Deol became part of the franchise circuit, joining a team in the inaugural season as part of India's broadening professional women's cricket structure.
Deol is regarded as a technically sound batter capable of anchoring the middle order as well as accelerating in the shorter formats. Her right-arm leg-break bowling provides a part-time option, and she is also considered a reliable fielder, especially in the deep.
As one of the cricketers from Himachal Pradesh to represent India regularly in women's cricket, Deol's career has helped bring visibility to women's cricket in the state and in northern India more broadly. Her progression from domestic cricket to international selection reflects the expanding base of the women's game following BCCI's structural reforms and the introduction of central contracts and the WPL.
