The Enterprises Group houses several of the original manufacturing and engineering businesses of the Godrej name, including locks, security solutions, furniture, appliances, aerospace and defence components, precision engineering, and material handling equipment. The Godrej business traces its origins to 1897, when Ardeshir Godrej began manufacturing locks in Bombay. Over the following decades, the family enterprise expanded into safes, soaps, furniture, typewriters, refrigerators, and a wide range of engineering and consumer products. The businesses were historically organised under Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company and several allied entities.
In 2024, the Godrej family announced a formal restructuring that divided the group's businesses between two branches of the family. Under this arrangement, the manufacturing and engineering-led businesses, anchored by Godrej & Boyce, were placed under the umbrella now identified as Godrej Enterprises Group, while the listed consumer goods, real estate, agrochemicals, and financial services businesses continued under Godrej Industries Group.

Godrej Enterprises Group represents one of the oldest continuously operating industrial enterprises in India, with a manufacturing legacy of more than a century. The group is also notable for retaining a large, vertically integrated manufacturing footprint at Vikhroli in Mumbai, where extensive mangrove lands owned by the group form an ecologically significant area along the city's eastern shoreline.
