The District Institute of Education and Training, Siwan (DIET Siwan) is a government teacher training institution located in the Siwan district of Bihar, India. It is part of the nationwide network of District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) established under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Restructuring and Reorganisation of Teacher Education, with the mandate of providing pre-service and in-service training to elementary school teachers.

District Institutes of Education and Training were conceived in the National Policy on Education, 1986, and operationalised through a Centrally Sponsored Scheme launched in 1989. The scheme envisaged the creation of one DIET in every district of India to act as the nodal academic agency for elementary teacher education at the district level. DIETs in Bihar function under the administrative oversight of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Bihar, and the Department of Education, Government of Bihar.
As with other DIETs, the institute at Siwan is generally tasked with:
DIETs are typically organised into branches such as Pre-Service Teacher Education (PSTE); In-Service Programmes, Field Interaction and Innovation Coordination (IFIC); Curriculum, Material Development and Evaluation (CMDE); Educational Technology (ET); Work Experience (WE); District Resource Unit (DRU); and Planning and Management (P&M). The Siwan institute follows this broad structure in delivering its training and academic activities.
DIET Siwan plays a central role in capacity building of elementary school teachers in Siwan district, contributing to the implementation of national and state-level school education programmes. As the apex district-level body for teacher education, it links state-level policy with classroom practice across government schools in the district.
