Bundela rose through the ranks of Madhya Pradesh's domestic cricket structure, which is administered by the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) and headquartered in Indore. Madhya Pradesh has historically competed in the Central Zone of Indian domestic cricket, and Bundela became a fixture in its Ranji Trophy line-up over an extended career.
Bundela built his reputation on consistency in red-ball cricket, accumulating a large body of runs in the Ranji Trophy across many seasons. In the latter part of his playing days he also took on captaincy responsibilities for Madhya Pradesh, providing continuity and senior leadership in the dressing room. His longevity made him among the most-capped players to have represented the state in first-class cricket.
In addition to the Ranji Trophy, he featured for Madhya Pradesh in other domestic competitions including the Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A) and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (Twenty20), as well as zonal tournaments such as the Duleep Trophy when selected for Central Zone.
Bundela is frequently cited as a benchmark for service and run-scoring in Madhya Pradesh cricket. His career, spent almost entirely with one state side, illustrates the role of long-serving domestic professionals who anchor middle-orders and mentor younger players within the Indian first-class system. His tenure preceded the emergence of a Madhya Pradesh side that went on to win the Ranji Trophy in the 2021–22 season.
