Delta Corp operates casinos under the Deltin brand, which includes offshore (vessel-based) casinos on the Mandovi river in Panaji, Goa, as well as land-based casino operations in Sikkim. The company's flagship offshore property is the Deltin Royale, alongside other vessels and a land-based hotel and casino, the Deltin Daman in the Union Territory of Daman and Diu region historically and the Deltin hospitality assets in Goa.
The group's hospitality arm runs hotels associated with its gaming operations, and through subsidiaries it has been active in the online real-money skill gaming segment, particularly online poker and rummy.
Goa and Sikkim are the principal Indian jurisdictions where Delta Corp's casino operations are conducted. In Goa, casino gaming is permitted on licensed offshore vessels under the Goa, Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act, while Sikkim provides for land-based casinos under the Sikkim Casinos (Control and Tax) Act, 2002.
Delta Corp has interests in online skill-gaming platforms offering games such as poker and rummy, segments which are regulated separately from games of chance under Indian law and have been treated by several Indian courts as games of skill.
The company operates hotels and resorts that complement its gaming properties, marketed under the Deltin umbrella.
The company is chaired by Jaydev Mody, an Indian businessman associated with the development of the gaming industry in Goa. The Mody family is closely associated with the management and ownership of the group.
Casino gambling in India is regulated at the state level. Delta Corp's operations are therefore confined to states that have enacted enabling legislation. The company's business is sensitive to changes in state gaming policy, licence-fee regimes, entry-tax rules, and central tax measures. The application of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to the face value of bets in casinos and online gaming has been a significant regulatory development affecting the wider industry.
Delta Corp is widely cited as the largest listed gaming company in India and is often used as a bellwether for the regulated casino segment. Its public listing has given the otherwise opaque Indian gaming sector a degree of disclosure through statutory filings, annual reports, and stock-exchange announcements.
