Overview

Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), is a state university located in Rohini, Delhi, India. It is among the older engineering institutions in the national capital and offers programmes in engineering, technology and allied disciplines.

The institution was established in 1941 as Delhi Polytechnic. In 1952, it began awarding degrees after affiliating with the Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi. This affiliation continued until 2009, during which the institute developed as a prominent engineering college in northern India under the name Delhi College of Engineering.

The college has been under the Government of Delhi since 1963. In 2009, it was granted university status by the Government of Delhi, and was renamed Delhi Technological University. As a state university, DTU functions with academic and administrative autonomy in framing its curricula, examinations and degree programmes.
