The school is based in Surat, a city on the banks of the river Tapti (Tapi) near its confluence with the Arabian Sea. Surat is the commercial and economic centre of South Gujarat and the second largest city in the state after Ahmedabad. It lies approximately 284 km south of the state capital Gandhinagar, 265 km south of Ahmedabad, and 289 km north of Mumbai.

Civic context

Surat is among the urban areas selected for development under the Government of India's Smart Cities Mission, and was also chosen as the first smart IT city in India through the Microsoft CityNext Initiative in collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro. The city was awarded an IBM Smarter Cities Challenge grant in 2015. Surat shared the title of the cleanest city in India with Indore in the 2023 Swachh Survekshan Awards.
