Location and setting

The school is situated in Mysuru, the second-most populous city in Karnataka. The city lies at the foothills of the Chamundi Hills at an altitude of about 770 m (2,530 ft) above mean sea level, and is located approximately 140 km (87 mi) south-west of the state capital, Bangalore. Mysuru is geographically positioned at 12°18′26″ N latitude and 76°38′59″ E longitude, and the urban area spreads across about 156 km² including neighbouring census towns.

Civic and cultural context

Civic administration in the city is handled by the Mysore City Corporation. Mysuru is widely known as the "City of Palaces", the "Heritage City", and the "Cultural capital of Karnataka", reflecting its long association with the Kingdom of Mysore (1399–1947) and the patronage of art and culture by the Wadiyar dynasty. The city has also been recognised as one of the cleanest cities in India in the Swachh Survekshan rankings.
