Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University (CBPBU) is a public state university located in Cooch Behar, in the Indian state of West Bengal. As a state university, it functions within the higher education framework of the Government of West Bengal and serves students from the surrounding region of northern Bengal.
The university is named in honour of Panchanan Barma, a 19th-century Rajbangshi leader and social reformist. Barma is remembered for his work among the Rajbangshi community and for his contributions to social reform in the region, and the naming of the institution reflects this legacy.
As an institution of higher learning, CBPBU is part of the network of state universities in West Bengal that provide undergraduate and postgraduate education in Cooch Behar and the broader north Bengal region.
