Miranda emerged from Goa's strong club football culture, which through the 1990s and 2000s produced a steady stream of players for the national team. Goan clubs such as Dempo, Salgaocar, Churchill Brothers and Sporting Clube de Goa formed the core of the National Football League and, after its rebranding in 2007, the I-League.
Miranda was associated primarily with Goan top-flight sides, featuring in the National Football League and the I-League. He was part of squads that competed for the league title and the Federation Cup, two of the principal domestic competitions in Indian football during his playing years.
Miranda earned senior caps for India, contributing to the national team's midfield during a period in which the side was coached by figures including Stephen Constantine and Bob Houghton. India's notable achievements in this era included the 2008 AFC Challenge Cup title, which secured qualification for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.
Miranda is representative of the generation of Goan midfielders who sustained the technical, possession-based style long associated with football in the state, both at club level and in the colours of India.
