Chamara Kapugedera

Overview

Chamara Kantha Kapugedera (born 24 February 1987) is a former Sri Lankan international cricketer who represented his country across all three formats of the game. A right-handed middle-order batsman, he also served as a One Day International captain during his career.

Kapugedera received his education at Dharmaraja College in Kandy. He became a regular member of the Sri Lankan national side from his debut and continued in the squad until 2010, when a dip in form led to his omission. He featured in Sri Lanka's first ever Twenty20 International match and was capped at number 6 in the format.

After a period out of the national set-up, Kapugedera returned to the Sri Lankan team in mid-2015, taking up the role of a middle-order batsman. In December 2019, he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, bringing an end to his international career.
