The Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP, also known as CU Himachal) is a central research university situated in Dharamshala in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It was founded in 2009 as part of the Government of India's policy to establish a central university in each state that did not already have one.
The university was established under the Central Universities Act, 2009 (No. 25 of 2009), enacted by the Parliament of India. It currently functions from a temporary campus at Shahpur and Dehra Gopipur, along with two small campuses in the Sapt Sindhu Parisar in Kangra district that house departments such as Political Science, History and Economics. Construction of two permanent campuses, at Dehra and Dharamshala, is pending.
