Carmelagiri Elephant Park is a theme park and elephant interaction site located in the Munnar region of Idukki district, Kerala, India. The park lies in the hills surrounding Munnar, a hill station in the Idukki district of Kerala. The wider area is characterised by tea plantations, shola forests and grasslands, and is connected by road to Kochi via the NH 85 corridor. Carmelagiri is one of several roadside attractions visitors typically combine with stops at viewpoints, tea museums and spice gardens in the region.
The principal attraction at Carmelagiri Elephant Park is the elephant ride, in which visitors are taken on a short circuit through the surrounding terrain seated on a trained elephant. The park also allows visitors to feed and photograph the elephants under the supervision of mahouts.
As a tourism site, Carmelagiri Elephant Park contributes to the leisure economy of the Munnar belt, which is among Kerala's most visited destinations. Captive-elephant tourism in Kerala is regulated under state and central wildlife rules, and parks of this type are part of a broader debate in India regarding animal welfare standards in tourism.
