The Canteen Stores Department (CSD) is a military commissary chain operated by the Government of India under the Ministry of Defence. It supplies a wide range of consumer goods at concessional prices to serving and retired personnel of the Indian Armed Forces and their dependants. The CSD operates through a network of depots and unit-run canteens spread across the country, making it one of the largest retail chains in India by reach.

The CSD functions as the wholesale and policy organisation that procures consumer goods from approved manufacturers and distributes them to Unit Run Canteens, which act as the retail outlets accessible to entitled customers. Goods sold through the CSD network are exempt from certain duties and taxes, allowing them to be offered at prices lower than those in the open market. The product range covers groceries and provisions, toiletries, household appliances, electronics, automobiles, liquor, and clothing.
The department is headed by a serving officer of the Indian Armed Forces and operates a chain of regional depots that supply a much larger network of Unit Run Canteens managed by individual military, naval and air force units, as well as paramilitary establishments where applicable. Procurement is centralised, while retail sale is decentralised through the URCs.
The CSD is widely regarded as a major welfare measure for the armed forces community in India. Its scale of operations, combined with the breadth of its product catalogue, makes it a significant institutional buyer for many Indian fast-moving consumer goods, automobile and durable goods manufacturers. Listing on the CSD inventory is considered an important channel for companies seeking access to the defence consumer segment.
