Bombayla Devi Laishram is an Indian recurve archer from Manipur. She has represented India at multiple Olympic Games and at major continental and world events, and has been part of the Indian women's recurve team that has earned medals at the Asian Games and Asian Archery Championships.

Background

Bombayla Devi hails from Imphal, Manipur, a state that has produced a number of India's leading archers. She took up archery at a young age and progressed through national-level competition before joining the senior Indian recurve squad.

Career

She made her Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, competing in the women's individual and team recurve events. She returned to the Olympics at London 2012 and Rio 2016, again featuring in both the individual and team events as part of the Indian women's recurve squad alongside team-mates such as Deepika Kumari and Laxmirani Majhi.

At the Asian Games, Bombayla Devi has been part of the Indian women's recurve team that finished on the podium, contributing to India's medal tally in the team event. She has also represented India at the Asian Archery Championships, the World Archery Championships and on the Archery World Cup circuit, where Indian recurve teams have regularly reached the latter stages of competition.

Recognition

Bombayla Devi has been recognised by Indian sports authorities for her sustained presence in the national recurve team across more than a decade, and is regarded as one of the senior figures in Indian women's archery from the post-2008 generation.
