The station serves the village of Bijoor and surrounding settlements in coastal Karnataka. As with other intermediate halts on the Konkan Railway, it primarily caters to local commuters and provides regional connectivity along the corridor between Mangaluru and the stations of coastal Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra.
The Konkan Railway, on which Bijoor is situated, was constructed during the 1990s by the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways. The line traverses the Western Ghats and the coastal plain, passing through numerous tunnels, bridges, and viaducts. Stations such as Bijoor were established as part of this network to serve smaller communities along the route.
Although a minor halt, Bijoor contributes to the accessibility of rural coastal Karnataka, allowing residents to connect with larger urban centres such as Udupi, Mangaluru, and Karwar via passenger services on the Konkan corridor.
