The Lucknow Metro project is implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, formerly known as the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation. The North–South Corridor was developed as the first operational line of the network, with construction proceeding in two priority sections, followed by the northern extension that includes Bhootnath Market.
The station is situated along the arterial road passing through Indira Nagar, providing access to the Bhootnath Market shopping area and surrounding residential sectors. It serves commuters travelling between residential colonies in north-eastern Lucknow and employment, education and transport hubs in the city centre, including Hazratganj and Charbagh.
By providing rapid transit access to one of Lucknow's prominent local markets and a densely populated residential belt, the station contributes to reducing road congestion in the Indira Nagar area and supports the broader objective of integrating public transport across the city.
