Bhildi serves as a junction where lines diverge towards Palanpur to the south-east, towards Samdari and Jodhpur in Rajasthan to the north, and westwards through the Banaskantha–Kachchh corridor. This positioning makes it a connecting point for traffic moving between Gujarat's industrial belt and western Rajasthan.
The station is situated in Bhildi, a town in Deesa taluka of Banaskantha district. The surrounding region is largely agricultural, with cumin, mustard, and castor among the principal crops. Bhildi is a few kilometres from Deesa, one of the larger towns in the district, and is connected by road to Palanpur, the district headquarters.
Bhildi handles a mix of passenger and freight traffic. Long-distance express trains, passenger services, and goods rakes use the junction. Freight movement is significant given the station's role on routes linking Gujarat's ports with the hinterland of Rajasthan and northern India.
As a junction in a relatively sparsely populated part of Gujarat, Bhildi's importance lies less in passenger volumes and more in its function as an interchange on routes between Gujarat and Rajasthan, and as part of the freight corridor linking western ports to inland markets.
