Chipli came through Karnataka's domestic cricket structure, which has historically produced a number of Indian internationals. He represented Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy, the country's premier first-class competition, as well as in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A) and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (Twenty20).
As a top-order batsman, Chipli was part of Karnataka's squad during seasons in which the state side competed in the knockout stages of national tournaments. He also featured in the Indian Premier League, where franchises drew on talent from state teams to fill their domestic player quotas.
Chipli's career reflects the depth of cricketing talent emerging from Karnataka, a state that contributes substantially to the pool of Indian first-class cricketers. While he did not progress to international honours, players in his cohort form an important part of the domestic system that supports India's national setup.
