Bhagat Ki Kothi station is situated on the southern outskirts of Jodhpur, a short distance from Jodhpur Junction. It functions both as a passenger halt for several long-distance trains and as a coaching depot, where rakes of originating and terminating express trains are maintained, cleaned, and stabled. This arrangement helps to ease congestion at the principal Jodhpur Junction terminal.
The station lies in the Bhagat Ki Kothi neighbourhood of Jodhpur and is connected to the rest of the city by road. Jodhpur is part of the broad gauge network of the North Western Railway, with rail links extending towards Marwar Junction, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Jaipur and Delhi.
Several originating and pass-through express and superfast trains use Bhagat Ki Kothi as a terminal or commercial halt, including services connecting Jodhpur with destinations in western, northern and southern India. The presence of the coaching depot allows trains terminating at Jodhpur to be turned around at this facility.
As a secondary terminal in Jodhpur, Bhagat Ki Kothi plays an operational role in the working of the Jodhpur railway division by handling primary maintenance of long-distance rakes and providing additional platform capacity for the city's growing rail traffic.
