Belmuri station lies on the Howrah–Bardhaman chord section, one of the busy suburban corridors radiating from Howrah Junction. The station primarily handles local passenger traffic, with EMU (electric multiple unit) services connecting nearby commuters to Howrah and intermediate stations on the route.
The station is situated in a predominantly rural part of Hooghly district. It functions as a halt for daily commuters, students and traders travelling between local townships and the larger urban centres of Howrah and Kolkata. Road access from the surrounding villages connects passengers to the platform area.
Belmuri is served mainly by suburban EMU local trains operated by Eastern Railway under the Howrah suburban network. Long-distance express and mail trains generally pass through without halting.
As with other small stations on the Howrah–Bardhaman chord, Belmuri plays a role in supporting daily commuter movement in the region, linking villages and small towns of Hooghly district to the metropolitan economy of Kolkata.
