Location and setting

The station is situated in Beldanga, a town in the Beldanga I community development block of Murshidabad district. The surrounding region is largely agrarian, with paddy cultivation and jute being prominent local activities. Beldanga lies between Krishnanagar and Berhampore along the rail corridor that connects Kolkata with Lalgola in northern Murshidabad.

Services

Beldanga is served primarily by passenger and local EMU services running on the Sealdah–Lalgola route. These trains link the station with major points such as Sealdah, Krishnanagar City Junction, Berhampore Court and Lalgola. The line also carries express services connecting Kolkata with the northern parts of Murshidabad district.

Background

The Sealdah–Lalgola line, on which Beldanga is located, was developed historically as part of the Eastern Bengal Railway network to connect Kolkata with the Padma riverside region. After the formation of Indian Railways and subsequent reorganisation, the line came under the jurisdiction of the Eastern Railway zone. The route has since been electrified, allowing EMU operation between Sealdah and Lalgola.

Significance

The station functions as a key access point for commuters from Beldanga and adjoining villages travelling towards Berhampore, Krishnanagar and Kolkata. It supports daily passenger movement as well as the transport of agricultural produce from the surrounding rural belt.
