Location and setting

Baswa lies in the Dausa district of eastern Rajasthan, between the larger junction stations of Bandikui and Jaipur. The station is positioned on the broad gauge alignment that historically connected Delhi with Jaipur and Ajmer through Bandikui, a route which has long been one of the principal corridors of railway traffic in the region.

Background

The line passing through Baswa traces its origins to the Rajputana–Malwa Railway, a metre gauge system constructed in the late nineteenth century that linked the cantonment town of Delhi with Ajmer via Bandikui. After Indian independence, this network was absorbed into the Northern Railway, and following the reorganisation of railway zones in 2002, the Jaipur–Bandikui section came under the jurisdiction of the North Western Railway, headquartered in Jaipur. The route was subsequently converted to broad gauge as part of Indian Railways' Project Unigauge.

Services

Baswa is categorised as a wayside halt and is primarily served by passenger and local trains operating on the Jaipur–Bandikui–Alwar–Delhi corridor. Most long-distance express trains pass through without stopping. The station provides basic facilities for ticketing and waiting passengers.

Significance

For residents of Baswa and the neighbouring villages, the station offers an affordable means of travel to Bandikui Junction, Dausa, Jaipur and onward destinations. Bandikui, a short distance away, has historically been an important railway town with a locomotive shed and workshop dating from the colonial period.
