Basant Mohanty is an Indian first-class cricketer who has represented Odisha in the domestic circuit. A left-arm medium-fast bowler, he has been part of the state side in tournaments organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), including the Ranji Trophy, the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Mohanty came through the age-group and zonal cricket structure in Odisha, a state whose senior team is administered by the Odisha Cricket Association and which plays its home matches primarily at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Odisha competes in the East Zone of the BCCI's domestic competitions.
As a left-arm seamer, Mohanty has been used by Odisha to provide variety in the new-ball attack and to exploit assistance from pitches in red-ball cricket. He has featured for the side across the three principal formats of Indian domestic cricket:
