Baranagar metro station is an elevated metro station on the North–South corridor of the Kolkata Metro (Line 1, also known as the Blue Line). It serves the suburban town of Baranagar in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India, and provides metro connectivity to the northern fringes of the Kolkata Metropolitan Area.

Baranagar metro station lies on the northern extension of Line 1, the oldest metro corridor in India. The line was originally opened in stages from 1984, with the segment between Noapara and Dakshineswar inaugurated later as part of a northward extension. Baranagar is one of two stations on this extension, the other being the terminus at Dakshineswar.
The Noapara–Dakshineswar extension was sanctioned to ease the journey of commuters travelling from the northern suburbs and to provide direct rail connectivity to the Dakshineswar Kali Temple, a major pilgrimage destination on the eastern bank of the Hooghly. The roughly 4 km extension was built as an elevated viaduct, with Baranagar positioned as an intermediate station between Noapara and the terminus.
Construction was carried out by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) on behalf of Metro Railway, Kolkata. The project faced delays related to land acquisition and alignment changes near the Baranagar area before the station was completed.
The Noapara–Dakshineswar section, including Baranagar metro station, was opened to passenger service in early 2021, after being inaugurated by the Government of India. With its commissioning, Line 1 was extended to its present northern terminus at Dakshineswar.
The station is elevated, with the concourse on a level below the platforms. It is fitted with escalators, lifts and staircases for access between street level, concourse and platforms. Standard Kolkata Metro facilities such as ticket counters, automatic fare collection gates and passenger information displays are provided.

The station is located close to Baranagar railway station on the Sealdah–Dankuni suburban line of Eastern Railway, providing an interchange between the metro and the suburban rail network. It is also served by buses and auto-rickshaws operating along Barrackpore Trunk Road and surrounding arterial roads.
Baranagar metro station improves access for residents of Baranagar, Kamarhati and adjoining areas to central Kolkata destinations such as Esplanade, Park Street and Kavi Subhash. By linking the metro network with the Sealdah–Dankuni suburban corridor and with the temple town of Dakshineswar, it functions as both a commuter and a pilgrim-oriented station.
