Bangur Nagar is one of the intermediate stations on Line 2A, which runs between Dahisar East and Andheri West. The line forms part of a broader north–south metro corridor along the western suburbs, complementing the parallel Western Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway. The station is configured with side platforms and is integrated with road-level access for pedestrians, feeder buses and intermediate public transport.
Line 2A was planned by the MMRDA as part of the expansion of the Mumbai Metro network beyond the original Line 1 (Versova–Ghatkopar). The corridor was conceived to decongest the Western Express Highway and S. V. Road, and to provide rapid transit access to the densely populated western suburbs between Dahisar and Andheri.
Line 2A was opened in two phases. The first phase, between Dahisar East and Aarey, commenced commercial operations on 2 April 2022. The remaining stretch from Aarey to Andheri West, which includes Bangur Nagar, was inaugurated on 19 January 2023, after which through services along the full length of Line 2A became operational.
As an elevated station, Bangur Nagar typically features a street-level entry, a concourse level housing ticketing, automatic fare collection gates, security screening and customer service, and a platform level above the concourse. The station provides accessibility features such as lifts and escalators in line with standards adopted across the Mumbai Metro network.
The station improves last-mile connectivity for residents of Bangur Nagar, Goregaon West, and surrounding pockets, and offers easier access to employment hubs along the corridor. Through interchanges elsewhere on the network, passengers can transfer to other Mumbai Metro lines and to the suburban railway system, integrating Bangur Nagar with the wider Mumbai Metropolitan Region transit grid.
