Bangalore University (BU) is a public state university located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. As a state-funded institution, it offers higher education across a range of disciplines and oversees affiliated colleges within its jurisdiction.
The university is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), and is affiliated with the University Grants Commission (UGC). It has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an A++ grade in 2023.
Bangalore University was subsequently trifurcated, with the formation of Dr. Manmohan Singh Bengaluru City University and Bengaluru North University, which now function as separate institutions alongside Bangalore University. The reorganisation redistributed affiliated colleges across the three universities to ease administrative load and improve academic oversight.
