Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara is a district in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh. It was created in 2012 when the Government of Chhattisgarh reorganised several existing districts to improve administrative reach. The district is named after its two principal urban centres, Baloda Bazar, which serves as the district headquarters, and Bhatapara, an important commercial and railway town.

Before 2012, the area now constituting Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara district was part of Raipur district. As part of a broader administrative reorganisation announced by the state government, Chhattisgarh's existing districts were subdivided to form nine new districts, of which Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara was one. The new district was carved out to bring administration closer to rural populations in the eastern and northern parts of the former Raipur district.
The district lies in the central plains of Chhattisgarh, in the Mahanadi river basin. The Mahanadi and the Shivnath rivers influence drainage and irrigation in the area. The terrain is largely an agricultural plain with patches of forest, and the region is well known for extensive deposits of limestone, which has supported a significant cement manufacturing industry.
The district is administered by a District Collector and Magistrate, with a Superintendent of Police heading the district police. It is divided into several tehsils and development blocks, including Baloda Bazar, Bhatapara, Simga, Palari, Kasdol and Bilaigarh. The district falls under the Bilaspur revenue division.
Agriculture is the backbone of the district's rural economy, with paddy as the dominant crop, supplemented by pulses and oilseeds. The district is one of the most prominent cement-producing belts in India; abundant limestone reserves have led to the establishment of plants by major cement manufacturers in and around Baloda Bazar. Bhatapara is a long-established trading and grain market town and a stop on the Howrah–Mumbai railway corridor.

Bhatapara is served by the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai main line of the Indian Railways, providing direct connectivity to Raipur, Bilaspur and beyond. State highways connect Baloda Bazar with Raipur, Bilaspur and Sambalpur (Odisha). The nearest major airport is Swami Vivekananda Airport at Raipur.
The creation of Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara district was intended to decentralise administration in a region with substantial industrial activity and a large agrarian population. Its limestone-and-cement economy contributes notably to Chhattisgarh's industrial output, while sites like Turturiya and Palari preserve aspects of the region's religious and architectural heritage.
