Bagalur Cross is one of several stations on the Blue Line, which connects Central Silk Board in the south of Bengaluru with Kempegowda International Airport at Devanahalli in the north. The line is being built in two phases under Phase 2A and Phase 2B of the Namma Metro expansion programme. The station serves the Bagalur area, located along the corridor leading towards the airport, and is intended to improve metro accessibility for commuters travelling between the city and its northern peripheries.
The Blue Line, approximately 58 kilometres long, is among the longest single corridors of Namma Metro and is being built primarily as an elevated alignment. The northern section, in which Bagalur Cross falls, runs along the alignment of the National Highway towards the airport. The corridor passes through key employment hubs such as the Outer Ring Road IT belt, KR Puram, Hebbal and the suburbs of north Bengaluru.
The station is expected to provide last-mile connectivity to residential and industrial developments along the Bagalur region, which has seen significant urban growth driven by proximity to the airport and to information technology and aerospace clusters in north Bengaluru. As an intermediate stop on the airport corridor, it will also offer interchange opportunities with bus services operated by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation.
