The station lies in the deltaic plains of coastal Andhra Pradesh, an agricultural region in the West Godavari area of Eluru district. Unguturu mandal, in which the village is situated, is part of a belt characterised by paddy cultivation and other irrigated farming supported by the Godavari river system. The station primarily serves the local rural population of Badampudi and surrounding hamlets.
Eluru district was carved out as a separate district of Andhra Pradesh in 2022, when the state government reorganised its districts. Prior to this reorganisation, Unguturu mandal and Badampudi village were part of the erstwhile West Godavari district.
As a small halt station, Badampudi provides basic connectivity for residents of the surrounding villages, linking them to larger towns in coastal Andhra Pradesh through passenger train services operated by Indian Railways. Such wayside stations play an important role in last-mile rail access in rural India.
