Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) is a central university located in Lucknow, the capital of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Named after B. R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Constitution of India, the university is funded and administered by the Government of India through the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is one of the central universities established with a particular emphasis on the educational empowerment of students from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

The university was established by an Act of Parliament as a central university dedicated to the memory of B. R. Ambedkar. Its founding objective is to provide higher education and research opportunities, with a particular focus on advancing the social and economic conditions of marginalised communities, in keeping with the values associated with Ambedkar's legacy.
