Background

Avesh Khan was born and raised in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. He came through age-group cricket in the state and represented India at the Under-19 level, including at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he was part of the Indian squad alongside contemporaries who later progressed to senior cricket.

Domestic career

Avesh made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy and went on to become a regular member of the state's pace attack. He has also featured in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A) and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20) for Madhya Pradesh, contributing to the side's strong performances in the domestic circuit during the early 2020s.

Indian Premier League

Avesh was first picked up in the IPL by Royal Challengers Bangalore before joining the Delhi-based franchise, where he developed into a leading death-overs bowler. His standout campaign came with Delhi Capitals in 2021, where he was among the tournament's leading wicket-takers. Ahead of the 2022 season he was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants in the mega auction at one of the higher prices for an Indian uncapped player at the time. He has since featured for other franchises in the league.

International career

Avesh Khan made his senior international debut for India in 2021, going on to play Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and One Day Internationals (ODIs). He was named in India's squad for the Asia Cup, and has been used by selectors as part of the rotation of fast bowlers in white-ball cricket. Earlier, he was picked as a net bowler with the Indian Test squad during the tour of England in 2021, gaining exposure to the senior dressing room.

Style and significance

Avesh is known for his ability to bowl at the death with hard lengths, slower-ball variations and a heavy-ball action that generates pace through the air. His emergence is often cited as part of the broader pipeline of fast bowlers produced by central Indian states, alongside players such as Kuldeep Sen and Venkatesh Iyer from Madhya Pradesh's recent generations.
